About Afam

Afam I. Okeke joined InfoLawGroup in May 2024. Afam’s practice areas span data privacy & cybersecurity law, intellectual property law, and entertainment and sports law. He advises clients on mitigating risks from cutting-edge innovations, intellectual property protection and enforcement strategies. He helps clients establish robust cybersecurity and data governance programs. He regularly drafts and negotiates licensing agreements, SaaS, and joint venture agreements. He advises clients in a range of industries, including, technology, real estate, gaming, entertainment, retail, and finance sectors. Afam is particularly interested in data privacy and its intersection with new technologies. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional for the United States (CIPP/US).

REPRESENTATIVE Experience

  • Advises clients on data privacy compliance, including the  state comprehensive privacy laws , Heath Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and similar laws regulating the collection, use, and handling of data and personal information.

  • Drafts and reviews privacy policies, website terms of use, and data processing agreements.

  • Counsels clients on intellectual property strategy and enforcement, IP licensing, and technology transactions.

  • Frequent speaker and writer on legal developments related to emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and cryptocurrency, Internet of Things (IoT)

  • Advises companies at the forefront of innovation on the integration of legal compliance with new technologies.

  • Assists clients in trademark registration processes from initial clearance searches to successful registrations with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and  managed trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) .
